Childcare/Nursery Attendant and Sunday School Teacher ($20/Hour)

We are looking for an experienced and reliable individual to provide high-quality, interactive faith exploration in a classroom setting, primarily leading a class of kids, aged pre-school through 5th grade. He/She/They will work with our Pastors and Christian Education Ministry to  teach, guide, love, care and help children to explore, develop and deepen their faith. In addition to teaching pre-planned lessons, the teacher will provide and support playtime, games, educational activities, and overall childcare. 

This position supports the core values of UCB by providing an inclusive, welcoming, learning  environment for children in which questions of faith are respectfully welcomed and children are  strengthened and nurtured to love their neighbors through spiritual deepening and mission  practice. Children are taught and experience unconditional love. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and teach Sunday School lessons using the church’s pre-selected curriculum.
  • Guide, integrate and work with church volunteers in the preparation of teaching of the lessons. 
  • Inventory, organize and identify materials needed for the above programming.
  • Set-up, organize and clean-up classrooms, play and storage areas. 
  • Monitor, observe and ensure safety for all children. 
  • Notify the Pastors/staff if additional communication or services are needed to support the children and/or families. 
  • Be polite, friendly, patient, empathetic, flexible, organized, and courteous with all children, parents, and volunteers. 
  • Demonstrate the social skills necessary to relate to a variety of people, remaining positive  even under stressful situations. 
  • Stay until all children are secured with a responsible adult. 
  • Must adhere to the United Church of Broomfield Safe Sanctuary Policy Guidelines
  • Communicate in advance, any planned absences with a minimum of 2-weeks’ notice
  • Communicate ASAP, any unplanned absences prior to the shift so that alternate  arrangements can be made. 
  • Other duties as requested/required within the job’s scope. 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • 1-3 years of experience in church or church-based programs for children and/or youth; if not, experience in educational settings. 
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Satisfactory completion of background check, references verification and demonstration of right-to-work in the US. 
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Physical Demands: Ability to frequently lift and/or move 20-25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 35-50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally  required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and  reach with hands and arms. The employee is also occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Hours and Compensation: 

Sunday School / Childcare takes place between 8:15 am to 11:15 am every Sunday (Aug-May). During the summer months (May-Aug) when Sunday School / Christian Education is on summer break, the work hours are approximately 09:45 am to 11:15 am. It is expected that the  Sunday School teacher will spend approximately 60-90 minutes each week preparing lessons and activities. 

Hourly rate is $20/hour

Lead Preschool Teacher ($19-20/Hour)

Kohl Street Kids [offering secular-based, pre-school education and care for children aged 2.5-6 years]

Description:

Our teachers are passionate about the intellectual and emotional development of children, and we are currently in search of an equally passionate and enthusiastic teacher to join our team. Teacher will be responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all of our children. The successful candidate will work closely with the Educational Director to ensure our program provides education, physical health, emotional well-being and parental involvement services to all enrolled students. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday (August-May).

Tasks:

  • Create a developmentally appropriate and enriching program for our students
  • Develop weekly lesson plans, activities and class set-ups
  • Assess children’s needs and development
  • Work closely with families to encourage mutual cooperation
  • Provide guidance to instructional staff to help resolve issues with students when necessary
  • Ensure the safety of all children in our program
  • Closely follow licensing regulations related to child care

Skills and requirements:

  • Willingness to achieve ECE certification
  • Passionate about the development and well-being of children
  • Able to pass background checks

Work schedule:

  • 9:00 am-5:30 pm Monday – Friday (August – May)

Salary:

Salary: $19.00 – $20.00/hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Early Childhood Education: 2 years (Required)
  • Childcare: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
